International Open Access Week 2019

To celebrate Open Access Week 2019, we have put together a quiz you can take to check how much you know about this form of publishing. But before landing on to the quiz page, here are the 5 things you need to know about Open Access:

  • Open Access makes knowledge available to all, without the barrier of affordability and without restrictions to inform and develop related areas of research.
  • Open Access enables free usage of knowledge for teaching, conference presentations and lectures.
  • Open Access offers authors enhanced visibility and the potential for greater usage of their work to deliver higher impact.
  • Open Access brings new audiences to scholarly content, helping expand readership.
  • Open access reduces the pressure on library budgets for purchasing books and journals and enables librarians to devote more time to provide their users with high-quality content.
Now let’s see how well you do!

Kriya handles all the email notifications that need to be sent to the various stakeholders at each stage of the content workflow process. The emails that are sent from the system are all kept within the production notes of that content so that they are easily accessible at any point in time. Recently, we have also added a handy feature to view all the emails that were sent out from the system in one page. To access this list, log into Kriya and click on the Emails link under the profile icon. See the screenshot attached -

This brings up a page that lists all the emails that have been sent from the system in the last 24 hours. Clicking on any of the emails listed on the left side opens up the email snippet on the right side of the page. All the communication related to that content is also listed chronologically on the right window pane. This makes it very easy to quickly check emails that were sent from the system. While the list only shows the emails that were sent in the last 24 hours as of now, we have plans to introduce a date range selector option so that emails sent during a particular date range can be viewed easily.

Unleashing the Power of Techies!

Where can you feel excited, nervous, rushed, motivated, tired, passionate, and enlightened all within 48 hours? Well, you have got to be a part of a hackathon to experience these. Yet Another Hackathon (YAH!) was organized by Sri Venkateswara College where ideas became a reality. The hackers were full of adrenaline and motivated to finish whatever project they were working on. The collaborative approach kept mushrooming, and they never shied away from placing craziest of ideas on the table. Exeter is always on the lookout for talented and passionate students and we did it again by sponsoring “Yet Another Hackathon!” that gave local talent an opportunity to showcase their technical skills and knowledge.

Fun-filled Diwali at Exeter

Dazzling earthen lamps, vivid lights, finger-licking foods, and mesmerizing rangolis are the real gems during the Diwali celebration! Diwali being the festival of fun and gaiety has a huge significance in India. At Exeter, the workplace wore a bright and colorful look and was decked up with flowers and lamps to add to the festive mood. Various games and fun activities were lined up with an eco-friendly angle. The best-decorated bay and the best-dressed employees were awarded exciting prizes.

The tradition of Diwali is what makes it an eagerly awaited festival. It is the positive flicker of engagement and contagious positive energy that keeps the spirit of ‘light’ glowing in our hearts. It goes without saying that Exeterians had a blast this Diwali. Here’s a glimpse of the festivities:
